This Week’s Verse - Phil. 4:5
“Let your gentleness be known to all men.”
Philippians 4:5
Jesus is gentle (Matt. 11:29; 21:5) and expects the same of His followers. Paul imitated “the gentleness of Christ” in his life (2 Cor. 10:1) and repeatedly taught the need for it in our lives. It is part of the fruit of the Spirit and should adequately describe our walk (Gal. 5:23; Eph. 4:2).
Notice that it should be known to all men, including those caught in a trespass (Gal. 6:1). It is even how we are to “correct those who are in opposition” (2 Tim. 2:25) and “make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you,...” (1 Pet. 3:15).
“Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth.” (Matt. 5:5).
