“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?”

1 Corinthians 6:19

Paul wrote these words to the Corinthian brethren to encourage them not to sin against their own bodies (:18).  Why not?  First, “your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit.”  With the Holy Spirit abiding in you, why would you even think of sinning?  Also, “you are not your own.”  How is this true?  “For you have been bought with a price” (:19a).  What is the conclusion?  “Therefore glorify God in your body” (:19b).
