“Corresponding to that, baptism now saves you – not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience – through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,”

1 Peter 3:21

God saved Noah through the use of water (:20).  Peter compared Noah’s salvation to ours because God uses water for both.  Ours is through immersion (baptism) in water.  It is not that the water cleanses our physical body, but it cleanses our conscience because we know we have done what God told us to do to be saved.  This salvation is possible because of Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross, followed by His resurrection from the dead.  Praise be to God!
